Paxil Paxil (paroxetine) is used to treat depression and other psychiatric
disorders. It belongs to the class of medications known as selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The cardiac defects reported in the studies are known as atrial and ventricular defects (holes in the walls of the chambers of the heart). These types of heart defects can be relatively minor and resolve without treatment or can cause serious symptoms that require surgical repair. Other birth defects associated with the use of Paxil include Persistent
Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN), a lung defect; infant
omphalocele, an abdominal wall defect; and craniosynostotis, a skull
defect. If you or a loved one took Paxil while pregnant and your child was born with a birth defect, please contact Daniel N. Gallucci toll-free at 1-888-245-0200 to discuss your potential case. Please remember that time limitations apply to every case and if you do not take immediate action, your claim could be time barred.
