Insurance Bad Faith
An insurance company acts in bad faith if it knowingly does something for which it has no reasonable basis. That can mean, for example:
- not being truthful;
- unreasonably denying coverage on a claim;
- taking an unreasonable amount of time to pay a claim;
- making an unreasonable offer on a claim;
- unreasonably forcing a policyholder to go to court or arbitration to get paid;
- demanding that in order to get paid on one claim, a person release the company from another.
