RodaNast attorneys are acutely aware of one of the latest in a long list of dangerous products to arrive in the U.S. from China — defective Chinese drywall. Panels of drywall (also known as wallboard or sheetrock) are used in the majority of homes in the U.S. for smooth walls and ceilings that are painted, wallpapered, stuccoed or otherwise "finished."
Defective Chinese drywall may not even be labeled as having been made in China. The chain of manufacture, labeling, import, distribution and installation can be rather complex. If you have fallen ill or experienced damage to your home and you suspect it is a result of defective Chinese drywall, please contact RodaNast, P.C. today. Our attorneys are familiar with the damages caused by the defective drywall and can help you recover compensation for your losses.
Individuals and families living in homes containing defective Chinese drywall have issued complaints of both physical ailments and damages to their homes.
Health risks associated with the defective drywall include:
Property damage caused by the tainted drywall includes:
The defective Chinese drywall was manufactured with toxic levels of compounds that are released into the air, causing harm to humans, pets and even metal components where the drywall was installed. The defective drywall has been identified in residences built in 2005 or later, mostly in southern states such as Florida, Alabama and South Carolina.
However, thousands of panels of defective Chinese drywall may well have been distributed across the United States, particularly during the period in 2005 and 2006 when there was a shortage of American-made building materials. The shortage of American building products followed Hurricane Katrina, when a higher-than-normal number of homes were constructed or repaired.
The issues surrounding defective Chinese drywall are complex, in part because builders, developers, drywall suppliers, drywall manufacturers, import companies and parent companies may all have had a role in the installation of defective drywall in a home or an entire new-home development. Some builders have already initiated lawsuits while others have begun to evacuate the residents of communities where the defective drywall appears to have been used.
At RodaNast, we have the knowledge, skills and experience to help homeowners who are injured physically and financially by the use of defective Chinese drywall in their homes. Contact our firm to arrange a no-cost consultation in which your concerns and legal options will be explored at length.
