Avandia
Manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, Avandia is a drug that was produced for people who suffer from type 2 diabetes. Avandia is intended to lower blood sugar. Avandia can also be used in conjunction with other diabetes drugs to target the condition and its effects.

In June 2007, after a medical expert testified at a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took action against GlaxoSmithKline. The FDA required GlaxoSmithKline to place a "black box" warning for Avandia. A "black box" warning, the most serious warning required by the FDA, alerts the consumer of the cardiovascular risk associated with Avandia.
